Inter are considering moves for a number of young Italian midfielders next summer as they look to shore up their options in the centre of the pitch.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Nerazzurri are eyeing up summer moves for the likes of Sassuolo’s Davide Frattesi, Spezia’s Giulio Maggiore, and Atalanta’s Matteo Pessina.

Inter currently have a strong complement of midfielders, but the futures of a number of players are in doubt, with Matias Vecino and Arturo Vidal out of contract in the summer and Stefano Sensi frequently injured.

The Nerazzurri could look to focus on youth, and to target players who have already impressed within the Italian top flight in order to reinforce their squad centrally.

To this end, Pessina remains a major target for the club having also been in consideration during the last summer transfer window, while Frattesi and Maggiore have impressed with their performances this season and put themselves within the Nerazzurri’s line of vision.
