Former Roma and Inter midfielder Franco Cordova believes that the Giallorossi will find it very hard to keep up with the Nerazzurri when his two former sides meet in Serie A this evening.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the 77-year-old praised the Nerazzurri for their recent form and singled out striker Edin Dzeko in particular.

Earlier in the season Inter and Roma had been picking up points at a similar pace in the Serie A table, but over the past number of weeks it has been the Nerazzurri who have pulled away as they have started to mount their title charge.

The Giallorossi remain a formidable side who can get a result against anyone, even in spite of their injury troubles, but their form has been much patchier than that of their opponents at the Stadio Olimpico this evening.

Cordova believes that Roma will face “A very difficult match. There are many absences, but above all it seems to me that there is tactical confusion. Could it be that Mourinho has not yet given them a style of play?”

“Inter, on the other hand, are a great team,” he went on, “with a very good coach like Simone Inzaghi, albeit still young.”

“They can certainly fight all the way to win the Scudetto,” he explained. “And then they have Dzeko, an absolute phenomenon. I would have never let him go.”
