Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is pleased to have seen wing-back Denzel Dumfries get on the scoresheet in the Nerazzurri’s 3-0 win over Roma earlier this evening.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, the coach gave his reaction to the match, and he was satisfied with what he saw from his team and also with the Dutch wing-back’s display.

Dumfries has started the Nerazzurri’s last couple of matches in place of the injured Matteo Darmian, and against the Giallorossi he once again did not look out of place as part of a dominant team performance.

The Nerazzurri controlled most of possession and created nearly all of the best scoring chances over the course of the match, with the 3-0 scoreline hardly flattering them, and Dumfries got in on the act with a well-timed stooping header to wrap the victory up.

Inzaghi was very happy with what he saw across the ninety minutes, stating that “It was a good match, winning in this manner away in Rome is ceraintly very significant.”

“We had a great performance,” he went on. “Coming here to the Olimpico is never easy, we prepared for it in the best way though. We rotated a few players, but the team was organized and knew what they wanted to do on the pitch.”

On Dumfries, the coach stated that “I think he doing very well, I have always alternated him with Darmian who is another guy who has enjoyed a very good start to the season.”

“Now Matteo is absent and Denzel is playing more, he deserves it for how he applies himself in training,” he added.

Inzaghi concluded that “Tonight we had an excellent match, it wasn’t easy. In my opinion we still have room for growth, at certain moments we had the opportunity to score another goal, but objectively I can only congratulate the guys after tonight.”

“From tomorrow on we are already concentrating on Madrid,” the coach stated, “we have another big away game ahead of us.”
