Inter wing-back Denzel Dumfries feels that he has worked hard to get to the point where he is in his current form.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster ITV following the Nerazzurri’s 3-0 win over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico, the Dutchman emphasized the work that he has put in and also the help he has gotten from his teammates to adjust and find form.

Dumfries has started the Nerazzurri’s last two matches in place of the injured Matteo Darmian, and he followed up a solid display against Spezia with an even more assured performance in a tough away stadium to get the better of the Giallorossi.

The 25-year-old has not necessarily always shown his best since arriving during the summer from PSV, but he has given a very positive signal that he can really establish himself in a Nerazzurri shirt with his recent performances, and also bagged his first goal with the club.

“I’ve been waiting for this goal for some time,” he said, “it’s nice to score for Inter.”

He added that “It was a very important match, we are happy for the victory, and we hope to continue like this.”

About a dedication for his goal, Dumfries stated that “We are expecting another child, so I dedicate it to him and my girlfriend.”

Dumfries also made an excellent and important defensive block moments before his goal, and he stated that “The block before the goal was very important, I put my body on the line for the team and got in the way of the ball.”

He added that “The squad was very happy for me, I felt a little bit like I would score and in the end I did so, things went very well.”

“I celebrated with the whole team,” Dumfries stated. “Before speaking in Italian I want to learn the language well, but the most important thing is ‘Forza Inter’!”
