Legendary former AC Milan and Italy coach Arrgio Sacchi believes that Inter gave a demonstration of what they are capable of in yesterday’s 3-0 win over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the former Rossoneri boss praised Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi for masterminding the dominant win.

Inter look to be in their best form of the season easily, with five wins from five after the return from the international break seeing them through to the knockout rounds of the Champions League and second place in the Serie A table one point off the top.

More than this, however, the style of play during these fixtures has been fluid and dominant, and Sacchi felt that this aspect was in particular commendable.

There is still much work to be done to realize the season’s ambitions, but Sacchi believes that Inter showed against Roma that they have the quality necessary to do so.

“Inter are the teams who are best-placed,” he said as far as the Scudetto race. “Against Roma they gave an impressive display of strength.”

“I saw a true team,” he added, “everyone moved at the right times, the spaces were attacked correctly, the forward moves were deadly. And the pressing was ever-present.”

He gave the team a “Hats off! Even after going 1-0 up Inter continued to attack, they went for the knockout blow. They looked brisk, the pace of play was good.”

Of Nerazzurri coach Inzaghi, Sacchi stated that “He has always been a good coach, but before he was missing something – he was an ‘Italian’ coach.”

“Now, however, he has built a European-quality Inter where everyone has learned to play the right way,” he continued.

“And, if they continue to do so, then they can also get some joy in Madrid in the Champions League,” he stated. “I am convinced that, if my friend Ancelotti watched this match, he must be a bit scared.”
