Real Madrid couldbe without striker Karim Benzema in their Champions League clash with Inter on Tuesday evening.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the French striker went off with a thigh injury during the Merengues’ La Liga match against Real Sociedad and is not likely to recover in time for Tuesday’s match.

The Champions League match in the Spanish capital will effectively decide top spot in the Champions League group, with both Inter and Real already having secured progression to the group stage.

The Merengues lead the Nerazzurri by two points in the group and only need a draw from the match to finish the group as leaders, but the Nerazzurri could clinch top spot with three points.

Luka Jovic took the place of Benzema in the clash with La Real, though it remains to be seen whether Real head coach Carlo Ancelotti will once again turn to the Serb in place of Benzema against Inter or find another solution should he be without his talismanic striker.
