Legendary former Inter, Real Madrid, and Roma striker Antonio Cassano believes that striker Edin Dzeko is a big part of the reason why Inter are in such good form lately.
Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, as reported by FCInter1908, the 39-year-old highlighted the Bosnian’s importance to the club and also stated that coach Simone Inzaghi is someone that those around the club are very happy with.
Dzeko’s arrival in the summer from Roma has proved to be a very successful signing for the club, with the 35-year-old’s eleven goals in all competition the most of any player at the club and vital to their momentum in Serie A and the Champions League.
More than this, however, the former Giallorossi striker has also given the team a technical dimension and balance in possession which has allowed his teammates to get into the game more and made the Nerazzurri a more effective side in possession, something which Cassano has noticed.
“Eriksen is his own player but Calhanoglu has done very well so far,” he stated. “Brozovic is having a masterful season but the team is playing well through the centre-forward.”
“Dzeko holds the ball up, keeps possession moving, plays the right pass,” he added. “He is a brilliant player, whoever plays next to him doesn’t play badly.”
He stated that “Everyone plays well, he makes space, he plays one-twos, he is a complete centre-forward. Brozovic gives a lot, but from the front, Dzeko is the one who makes the attack tick over.”
“They tell me from Inter that there is not a day in which he rests or has a lax training session, he makes 30-40 passes. Right left, right left,” he said of the Bosnian.
Cassano also spoke about the role of Simone Inzaghi at the club, stating that “They say to me that there is not a person, from the waiter to the laundry staff, who are unhappy.”
He characterized the former Lazio coach as “Polite, always smiling, always positive and proactive, he makes you work very calmly.”
“He went to a team that had wo nfor the first time in a long time and had lost its three most important players,” he continued, “it was not easy. A less strong team is getting the same results, while playing better.”
