Inter are not only a top side in Serie A this season, but also have the capacity to threaten in Europe according to Italian media.

This from today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who argue that the Nerazzurri’s recent form makes them a force to be reckoned with even by the continent’s top sides.

The Nerazzurri turn their attention back to European competition after three wins on the bounce in Serie A.

The form that they have shown since the return from the international break has been excellent, with a 3-0 demolition of Roma at the Stadio Olimpico clear evidence of what this team is capable of.

More impressive than this win, however, was their 3-2 victory over Napoli right after the break, according to the Gazzetta.

When Inter faced the Partenopei at the San Siro, they began the evening seven points behind their opponents who had themselves been in imposing form for much of the campaign.

The match saw both sides hold the momentum at times with Napoli particularly looking dangerous as they aggressively pushed for an equalizer towards the end.

However, the 3-2 was more than a fair result for the performance put in by Inter, who dominated possession and goalscoring chances in the first half of the match.

With that result in particular, they showed that they are just as adept at imposing their game against high-level opposition as they are at getting the job done against teams from midtable, according to the Gazzetta.

Now the Nerazzurri will be regarded as a team to be feared in Europe just as much as in Italy, as they prepare to face Real Madrid to contest top spot in their Champions League group.
