Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is not focused on a contract renewal, and his priority remains guiding the club to success.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset ahead of this evening’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, the 45-year-old emphasized that he is focusing on his work at the club.

Inzaghi joined Inter on the summer and he was given a contract until 2023, but his work over the first few months of the campaign has inspired great confidence in him from the club.

This has led to suggestions that the coach could have his contract extended until 2025, with the Nerazzurri ready to entrust the future to the former Lazio boss in the longer term.

At any rate, however, Inzaghi is only thinking about the present and is not at all preoccupied with the thought of extending his current deal with the Nerazzurri,

On the Nerazzurri’s improvement in form compared to the beginning of the season, the coach stated that “We know that football is like this.”

“There are times when everything is fine like now, then you lose two games and those who had been praising you become your first detractor,” he went on.

“It is part of our world,” he explained, “we just have to keep playing this way, thinking about each match as it comes along.”

“It was always our hope to come here with the qualification for the knockouts guaranteed,” he said of this evening’s match.

He went on that “The guys have been extraordinary, they played four games that were each better than the last after the bitterness of the opener [a 1-0 loss to Real at the San Siro], now we are in great form.”

On wanting a result at the Bernabeu, the coach stated “Even more than in the first match. We and they have both grown up, we want to keep going.”

And on his prospective renewal, Inzaghi stated that “This is a matter for the news, but right now my only priority is Real Madrid.”
