Inter wing-back Ivan Perisic can’t wait to get out on the pitch and face Real Madrid in the Champions League this evening.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia yesterday ahead of today’s match, the Croat emphasized the anticipation and hunger that he and his teammates feel ahead of the group stage encounter at the Bernabeu.

The Nerazzurri and the Merengues have both already secured qualified qualification for the knockout rounds with a match to spare.

However, neither side will be treating this evening’s match as a dead rubber, with both teams playing for top spot in the group and the possibility of a more favourable draw in the round of sixteen.

Moreover, the match will be an important test for both sides and gives them an opportunity that their domestic form in their respective leagues can translate into European competition, and Perisic is looking forward to seeing what he and his teammates can do.

“After so many years we can say that tomorrow will be an easy game from a mental point of view,” he stated. “We have nothing to lose, we only play for first place.”

He went on that “We play at the Bernabeu against a strong team, we are hungry and we can’t wait. We have an important game ahead, we play well and we saw it in the last match, the guys are always looking to score.”

And on his future at the club, the 32-year-old stated that “I don’t like talking about the future, I’m focused on matches in December. You never know, see you soon.”
