Inter lost away against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu by 2-0 and will finish second in their Champions League group.

The Nerazzurri started well but failed to make their chances pay whereas Real Madrid were ruthless and opened the scoreline thanks to a gorgeous goal by Kroos.

Then Nicolo Barella lost his head and got himself sent off in the second half before Marco Asensio doubled Los Merengues lead.

Samir Handanovic – 5.5: Didn’t have much to do apart from watch Kroos & co’s shots sail by. His positioning was wrong but that wouldn’t have made any difference anyways.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 5: Danilo didn’t have the best of nights. Struggled to make an impact in attack or control the explosiveness of an inform Vinicius Jr. Gave it his all as usual.

Milan Skriniar – 6: Skriniar looks like he’s played central defender in a 3-man defense all his life. Controlled the center of the pitch. Then the move to the right exposed his only weakness.

Alessandro Bastoni – 6.5: Looks so calm and collected on the ball for someone so young. Was involved in almost each attacking move. Reliable in defense as well. Ice in his veins.

Denzel Dumfries – 6: The confidence he gained from the goal vs Roma showed tonight. Looked like he belonged but could never get that telling cross or pass into the box.

Nicolo Barella – 4.5: Barella had a decent first half apart from one moment where he did not mark Kroos and that cost Inter. Lost his head in that moment with Militao. Poor.

Marcelo Brozovic – 7: Epic is the new normal. Very rarely will Brozo have a poor night. Dominated the midfield against players that have done it all. Absolutely irreplaceable.

Hakan Calhanoglu – 5.5: Hakan didn’t have a good outing tonight after a string of good performances. Was not comfortable with the ball and it felt like he was over thinking a bit.

Ivan Perisic – 6.5: Another quality performance by Ivan who always brings his best in the big games. Made the most of spaces offered to him and was rock solid in defense.

Edin Dzeko – 5: Missing for major portions of the first half. It took Edin about 30 mins to get involved in the buildup play. Couldn’t get involved in the second half as well.

Lautaro Martinez – 5: Just like his strike partner, Lautaro was missing for most of the first half. Couldn’t get to the ball in the areas he’s more dangerous in. Rightly subbed off.

Federico Dimarco – 5.5: His substitution turned the tide over towards Real, not through any fault of his own. Tried to attack spaces ahead of him but the game had been lost.

Arturo Vidal – 6: The crowd at the Santiago Bernabeu doesn’t like Vidal and he did his all to annoy them even further. Made an impact but it was too little, too late. Rival.

Matias Vecino – 5: If Matias is looking to impress clubs into putting in a bid for him soon, he should hope that they don’t watch this performance. Looked rustier than usual.

Alexis Sanchez – 6: Was alone up front for most of his 30 minutes. Tried to hold up the ball but the support to him was non-existent. Hopefully he stays fit as Correa is injured.

Roberto Gagliardini – 5.5: Couldn’t cope with Real Madrid pressing him and gave the ball away a couple of times. Just highlights the need for a proper backup for Brozo in January.

Simone Inzaghi – 5.5: The tactical plan was perfect to neutralize Real Madrid. Inter dominated the ball in the first half. The half time substitution and the red card ruined it.

Felix Brych – 6: Use of VAR was quick and effective. Let the game flow and didn’t fall for any tricks till the 2nd half. Didn’t make any soft or undeserved bookings tonight.

Inter – 5 : Inter did very well in the first half despite the result suggesting otherwise. The lack of a killer instinct inside the box is why Inter will struggle on big nights.
