The identity of Inter’s Champions League round of sixteen opponents will be revealed on Monday December 13 at 12:00 CET when the official UEFA draw is held.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri will learn who they come up against in the first knockout round early next week.

Inter have made it out of the Champions League group stage and reached the round of sixteen for the first time in a decade.

Yesterday evening’s 2-0 away defeat to Real Madrid ensured that they qualify for the knockouts second in their group, meaning that whoever they face will be one of the first-place finishers from another group.

This means that among the Nerazzurri’s potential round of sixteen opponents are several of the favourites for the competition, including Manchester City, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Ajax.

Inter will have to wait until Monday before they can find out whether they have been handed a draw as tough as this.

For the round of sixteen, teams cannot come up against clubs from the same country, so Inter cannot face Juventus should the Bianconeri finish first in their group.
