Legendary former Juventus forward Alessandro Del Piero believes that Inter are a team who are growing and becoming more mature.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the Bianconeri legend gave the view that the Nerazzurri are still building on the work left by Antonio Conte and finding their mature identity under Simone Inzaghi.

The Nerazzurri have already found good form and accomplished significant milestones over the past few seasons, though not without bumps in the road such as the loss of Conte and several key players over the summer.

The team have grown into the season, with their form since the return from the November international break marking them as one of the standout sides in Italian football.

A defeat against Real Madrid in the Champions Leage last night raised some doubts about whether the Nerazzurri are already the finished article, however, and Del Piero believes that they are still in a phase where they have some growth to make.

“Inter are going through a phase of maturing,” he stated, “they had to make the change from Antonio Conte to Simone Inzaghi.”

He added that “Given everything that has happened within the club they’ve done well to maintain a balance despite difficulties.”
