Inter put the pressure on Real Madrid from the first whistle at the Bernabeu in yesterday’s Champions League clash, but it proved to be in vain as none of their thirteen shots found the back of the net.

As football stats account Opta pointed out in a tweet, this attacking performance by Inter was something of an anomaly in the Champions League, as the Merengues had not conceded so many shots without also conceding a goal since records have been kept on the matter.

Their tweet reads, “13 – Tonight match against Inter is the Real Madrid game with the most shots conceded without conceding a goal in a home first half in Champions League (13) since Opta collect this data (2003/04). Inaccurate.
