Roma head coach Jose Mourinho believes that Inter’s squad is much stronger than that of the Giallorossi, especially with the injuries affecting the latter.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia ahead of tomorrow’s Europa Conference League clash with CSKA Sofia, the Portuguese tactician reflected on the gap between the level of players at each team’s disposal.

Inter handed the Giallorossi an emphatic defeat at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday, taking away a 3-0 victory which was not an inaccurate reflection of how the match had gone on the pitch.

Little doubt was left as to which team had been the stronger on the night as the Nerazzurri’s confident and incisive display was almost the polar opposite of the Giallorossi’s fragmented performance.

Mourinho is of the view that the principle reason that this was the case was that Inter have such a strong squad, while Roma could not boast the same level of quality especially given the absences from their starting eleven.

“When you play against a team like Inter, you can just look at the bench, you don’t need to look at the pitch, they are stronger than us,” he stated. “And in that situation they weren’t stronger than us, they were much stronger than us thanks to injuries.”
