Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi did not have the right tactical approach in yesterday’s 2-0 Champions League defeat to Real Madrid, according to Italian media.

This from today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who gave the coach a 5.5/10 grade in the player ratings for the match in today’s print edition.

Inter set out to play the way they have in all their recent matches from the first minute at the Bernabeu, circulating the ball quickly and looking to stretch and open up the opposition.

This time around, however, the pace of the attacks always seemed to falter at the decisive moments, and Real largely looked comfortable defending their barrage of shots by allowing them space in wide areas.

Meanwhile, the Gazzetta also gave mediocre 5/10 grades for the ineffective strikers Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez, as well as Danilo D’Ambrosio who struggled against Real winger Vinicius.

Only Marcelo Brozovic was given a really positive score by the newspaper, receiving a 7/10 grade for another sharp display in midfield, while his midfield compatriot Nicolo Barella was named as the worst player on the pitch with his ineffective and hot-headed display getting only a 4/10 grade.
