Inter are aiming to be top of the Serie A table instead of AC Milan by the Christmas break, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by Corriere della Sera, the three Serie A fixtures that Inter must negotiate before Chtrimtas suggest that the team should be top of the tree by the time the tough run in January appears.

Now that the Champions League group stages have been successfully navigated, Inter can focus entirely on Sunday’s match against Cagliari at San Siro, the away trip to Salernitana who sit bottom of the Serie A table, and the home game against Ivan Juric’s Torino.

It is vital for Simone Inzaghi’s Inter side to take nine points from these matches because January will feature games against Lazio, AC Milan, Atalanta, and Napoli.

The following month will also have the Champions League Round of 16 tie to deal with.
