Nahitan Nandez is expected to see out the rest of the season at Cagliari rather than moving to a new side in January despite Inter links, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by La Nuova Sardegna, a publication based in Sardinia where Cagliari play, the club president is expected to have a meeting with the Uruguayan midfielder to assure him that he can leave the club in the summer but should not leave in January.

Nahitan Nandez has been linked with a January move to Inter so that Simone Inzaghi can rest Nicolo Barella more often and not burn him out.

The Uruguayan was extremely close to joining Inter in the summer transfer window with all of the personal terms agreed, but then the clubs could not agree on the loan fee and the deal fell through.

That led to a temporary falling out between Nahitan Nandez and the club.
