Simone Inzaghi will be able to call upon many more defensive options for the match against Cagliari on Sunday than he has become accustomed to over the past few matches, according to a report in the Italian print media.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Stefan de Vrij is expected to be fit to start the match against the Sardinian side at San Siro after a month out with an injury sustained whilst on international duty with The Netherlands.

Andrea Ranocchia and Aleksander Kolarov are also expected to be fit again although Matteo Darmian will still be absent.

Denzel Dumfries will be assessed over the next couple of days after he was withdrawn at half time during the 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Joaquin Correa is also being assessed after coming off injured against AS Roma last weekend at the Stadio Olimpico.
