Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella has admitted that the atmosphere at Inter is much calmer under Simone Inzaghi than it was under Antonio Conte, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview with Sport Mediaset, via FCInternews,  the Sardinian midfielder explained that they years under Antonio Conte were very intense and Simone Inzaghi has brought more calm to the team since he took over.

“What we experienced last year gives us a lot of awareness, we have a Scudetto on our chest, we have learned from our mistakes.

“Then the coach, Inzaghi, gave us a little more, maybe more calm, that helped us after two intense and difficult years that gave us so much satisfaction.”

Nicolo Barella very recently signed a new deal with Inter that will keep him at the club until at least 2026 but he feels they have always had confidence in him, not just now.

“Inter has always shown me confidence even before the renewal, I’m happy to have found the agreement. I hope the fans are also happy with my choice, I thank them and the company that has always supported me.”

The midfielder is expected to become Inter captain in the near future but he feels he should focus on the two players who are ahead of him in that respect right now.

“There is Samir Handanovic and Andrea Ranocchia, players who have gone through dark periods in an Inter that was not what it is now. They are the captains and we are very happy with their help.”

Nicolo Barella received a red card after he lost his cool against Real Madrid and swung a punch at the legs of a defender. His regret over the episode is clear.

“I’m sorry because, seeing it again, it’s a scene I don’t like. It was a bad reaction, even though Militao made a mistake in pushing me against the billboards, we could have avoided it.

“I was wrong to fall into a trap; I apologize to everyone because I left the team with ten in an important match. This is what I regret most.”

It is known that Marcelo Brozovic and Nicolo Barella have a great relationship on and off the pitch, on which he said: “A Sardinian and a Croatian together. The friendship was born because Brozovic is a true one, always sincere. We have created a bond, we have fun together.”

Nicolo Barella is convinced that he and Italy will still qualify for the World Cup despite having to go through the play offs.

“We are European champions, so the others should worry too. There was a moment when the ball did not want to go in, now we will try to go to the World Cup through the play-offs. I am convinced that we will do it.”
