Football agent Mino Raiola has revealed that injury stopped Marcus Thuram from joining Inter in the summer, according to a report in the German broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview on German TV channel Sport 1, via FCInter1908, Mino Raiola explained that the serious injury suffered by the French forward meant he had to remain in Germany with Borussia Monchengladbach.

“He had enormous growth at Borussia Monchengladbach. In the summer the way was clear for him: to move abroad. Under normal conditions, we would have brought him to Inter.

“Everything was already clear until he was injured. Now he is ready for all the major clubs, whether in England, Germany, Italy or France. He has the choice.”

Marcus Thuram looked as though he would be part of Inter’s operation to replace Romelu Lukaku with two players once he moved to Premier League side, Chelsea.

Edin Dzeko had already been signed and then Marcus Thuram seemed extremely close to joining as well, as Mino Raiola has confirmed.

His serious injury meant that Inter had to alter their plans and decided to pursue Joaquin Correa from Lazio more seriously.

It is not clear whether the move will be reignited in the future but Inter are now more heavily linked with young Italian forwards.
