Cagliari forward Joao Pedro remains of the opinion that Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella is an outstanding player and person.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport ahead of his team’s Serie A clash with the Nerazzurri tomorrow, Pedro spoke highly of his former teammate and also praised on-loan Inter full-back Dalbert.

Barella had been one of the recent jewels of Cagliari’s academy before he moved to Inter, establishing a highly positive reputation for his performances with the Rossoblu even in his early twenties.

In the end the Nerazzurri beat out the interest of a number of interested clubs to sign him in the summer of 2019, and in the two seasons in change since he has gone from strength to strength.

The 24-year-old has made himself a vital player for Inter and also the Italian national team on the way to the Scudetto and the European Championship, and has committed his future to the Nerazzurri on a new deal until 2026.

As Pedro explained, however, he is still the same friendly guy as he was in Sardinia, and the Rossoblu talisman feels that the player deserves all his success.

“I haven’t heard from him since the summer, we talked about basketball, the NBA,” Pedro explained. “Nico is a wonderful guy who deserves everything.”

Pedro also explained that he has become close friends with Dalbert since the Brazilian joined Cagliari from Inter on loan during the summer.

“We are always together now,” he stated. “Believe me, he is a great player.”
