Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez is set to miss out on tomorrow’s Serie A clash with Inter through injury.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the 25-year-old is almost certain to be absent from the squad due to a thigh injury.

Nandez picked up a knock to the flexor muscles in his right thigh during the Rossoblu’s draw with Torino on Monday, and he has been assessed over a possible return to the team in the days since.

However, it now looks very unlikely that the Uruguayan will be able to take the pitch in time for the Sardinians’ trip to face Inter.

It remains to be seen how Rossoblu head coach Walter Mazzarri will make up for Nandez’s injury, with the two main possibilities being either replacing Nandez on the right of a 3-5-2 with a deputy like Alessandro Deiola, or switching the system to a 4-4-2.
