Former Palermo and Parma defender Cristian Zaccardo believes that Inter have a slight edge over their rivals in this season’s Scudetto race.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, the 39-year-old named the Nerazzurri as the team who have the quality to get the best of a Serie A title race which is nevertheless highly balanced.

The Nerazzurri are now one point behind city rivals AC Milan who top the table, while Napoli and Atalanta are one and four points behind them respectively.

Based on the overall form of the four teams at the top since the start of the season, it looks as though the title will be in play between multiple sides for much of the rest of the season.

The eventual winner is likely to have to edge out their main rivals rather than win in emphatic fashion, and according to Zaccardo it is Inter who could have what it takes to do exactly this.

On the Scudetto chase, the former defender described the four teams at the top as “Very balanced with each other.”

He went on that “If anything, Inter have a little more on paper. I hope it will be a good fight until the end of the season, we’ll see who wins but I hope that it will remain in play until the last day.”
