Roma head coach Jose Mourinho believes that Inter’s strength in depth is a big point in their favour compared to that of their rivals.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera in an interview published in today’s print edition, the Portuguese tactician gave the view that the Nerazzurri have significantly better options on their bench compared to his Roma team.

The Giallorossi have been going through something of an injury crisis in recent weeks, with key players like Lorenzo Pellegrini, Stephan El Shaarawy, and Bryan Cristane missing games through injury or illness while the likes of Rick Karsdorp and Tammy Abraham have been out with suspension.

Inter have also seen a number of players miss out on games through injury during their packed fixture schedule, but unlike Roma they have usually been able to rely on solid deputies to come in.

Moreover, Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi is blessed with a wealth of options to change games by making substitutions.

Mourinho stated that “I’d like to turn over to the bench and see players like Vidal, Lautaro, Correa, Darmian and Ranocchia on the bench, like Simone Inzaghi does. But our situation is different.”
