Inter captain Samir Handanovic believes that his team have reached an even higher level than last season despite significant sales in the summer.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset after the Nerazzurri’s 4-0 demolition of Cagliari yesterday evening, the Slovenian hailed the Nerazzurri’s improvements this season even after losing Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku.

Inter endured a summer of significant upheaval in the transfer market, selling Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain out of financial necessity before the shock departure of Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea for a massive fee.

However, the Nerazzurri also refreshed the team with new signings in the form of Denzel Dumfries, Hakan Calhanoglu, Edin Dzeko, and Joaquin Correa.

Moreover, head coach Simone Inzaghi arrived from Lazio to replace the departed Antonio Conte, and he looks to have breathed new life into even players who have been at the club for several seasons.

On this Inter’s form Handanovic stated that “The reality is that we have been together for one or two years, maybe we play more freely. The interpretation has changed a bit but the base is solid and comes from the work of the past two years.”

“It is not a matter of feeling strong,” he added, “we have replaced two players who everyone thought were irreplaceable, and now we even play better. In football you have to be careful before making judgments.”
