Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is glad to have seen his team reach a state where there is little left for them to have to grow.

Speaking in a press conference after the Nerazzurri’s 4-0 win over Cagliari yesterday, as reported by FCInterNews, the coach was content with not just the result but also the performance to reach the summit of Serie A for the first time this season.

Inter had a chance to reach the top of the table for the first time in the entire campaign after city rivals AC Milan drew with Udinese yesterday, while Napoli’s loss at the hands of Empoli meant that a win could be even more impactful.

They will have seen Cagliari as beatable opposition but also understood that this game would not be straightforward even with the opposition’s place in the relgation zone of the table.

In the end, however, Inzaghi’s men dispatched the Rossoblu very comfortably, and the coach feels that it was evidence of their hard work and development this season.

“It was a game I feared,” he stated. “I talked about it with the guys who were focused, organized, and played excellent football.”

“Now I’m satisfied,” he went on, “we are top of the table, but at the moment this matters little. What matters is our growth, and we must keep going like this.”

And of the good form of Hakan Calhanoglu the coach stated that “I think I was clear from the beginning: he is a player that we wanted, both myself and the club, very badly, because he is a player of great quality.”

“He integrated himself into the team in the best way,” he went on, “he was lucky enough to find a team and a staff who have welcomed him wholeheartedly and now he is doing very well together with his teammates.”

Inzaghi added that “He must continue to work as he is doing during the week, when we manage to train the right way.”
