Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels completely happy with what he saw from his team in their 4-0 win over Cagliari in Serie A.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, the coach emphasized that the team looked like a fully realized version of themselves in their demolition of the Rossoblu and also looked ahead to the difficulties that lay ahead in the Champions League.

The Nerazzurri pushed hard for the win virtually from the first whistle against Cagliari, and despite some resolute defending and goalkeeping the opposition never looked like holding them off.

Inzaghi saw his team go into the break a goal ahead even after missing a penalty, and then in the second half they ran away with it with a dominant display and three excellent individual goals.

There is still much more work to be done over the course of the season, but Inzaghi can be totally pleased with what he has seen at the San Siro.

“It was very important for us to get into the second half of the season top, we have to continue because every weekend there is always a potential pitfall,” he stated.

“We have always done very well but now especially we are picking up a lot of points,” he continued. “Even before we were playing well, and now we have a long way to go and we must keep going like this.”

On tomorrow’s Champions League round of sixteen draw he stated that “There are some great teams, we’ll see what happens, obviously everyone hopes for a preferred team.”

He explained that “Three teams are almost unplayable, but nothing is taken for granted, tomorrow we will enjoy the draw and see who we get.”

“We know that we have a long road ahead of us,” he reflected. “But today we scored four goals, missed a penalty, his the post and the crossbar.”

“Tonight I have nothing to say to the team,” he stated, “in my opinion we went into the first half as a fully mature team who knew what they wanted and how to win, even if we only went into the half a goal up.”
