Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti believes that Inter should not necessarily be considered clear favourites for the Scudetto ahead of Atalanta.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, Sconcerti gave the view that La Dei can challenge the Nerazzurri as the other form team in Serie A over the past several weeks.

Inter have capitalized on recent stumbles by AC Milan and Napoli by showing their best form, reaching the summit and overtaking the Rossoneri this weekend after having been seven points behind the pair at the beginning of last month.

However, the Nerazzurri are not the only team to have taken advantage of this upheaval in the table, with La Dei having also dragged themselves into the Scudetto picture with an impressive sequence of wins.

Sconcerti believes that on form both of these teams should be considered as serious contenders for the Scudetto and that Atalanta have what it takes to push Inter.

“Today Gasperini once again showed that he can make five changes to the team and still win,” he said of La Dei’s victory over Hellas Verona.

“I don’t know how many times Inter has done that,” he went on, “they have had moments where they could not rely on Lautaro Martinez or Edin Dzeko.”

Sconcerti concluded that “I do not understand the view that the Scudetto race is clearly tilted towards Inter and that there is not a real duel.”
