Italian journalist Paolo Condo believes that the style of play that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is perfect for getting the best out of his players.

Writing in his column in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, Condo praised the Nerazzurri coach for his tactical work in shaping the side into what they are.

Inter have been in excellent form over the past several weeks, and their 4-0 win over Cagliari yesterday evening underlined once again how effectively they can operate as a team.

Every player on the pitch looked good in a team that had a few squad rotations but looked very well-organized and coordinated in all phases of play.

Inzaghi has now had several months to work with his players since making the switch from Lazio over the summer, and his ideas have clearly evolved in tandem with the squad he has had at his disposal.

“Inter are top of the table after their latest demonstration of strength and composure,” he writes, “when healthy and at its best – which this team appears to be minus a couple knocks – Inzaghi has found the perfect setup.”

He goes on that “Each passing game adds some new bit of detail to embellish the overall picture.”

“Yesterday, for example, Dumfries hinted at what he could become if his ongoing tactical lessons make the best of his athletic power,” Condo explained. “Barella has put together a series of magnificent assists.”

“Sanchez scored a brilliant goal, so who knows if even the least successful purchase of these directors so far might turn it around after disappointment so far,” he continues.

Condo writes that “Inzaghi took longer to go clear at the top of the table compared to Conte’s first season (only three rounds), but he is well ahead (17 rounds compared to 22) compared to last season when they won the Scudetto.”

“They have three points more than this time last season,” he explains, “the result of the same number of goals scored (43) and a third fewer goals conceded (15 compared to 23).”

“I was not among those who expected Inter to improve after the summer, so I express my surprise and give a mea culpa,” he goes on.

“The calendar now favours the Nerazzurri pushing towards the title of winter champions,” Condo reflects, “considering the direct clash between Milan and Napoli on Sunday evening, 48 hours after Salernitana against Inter.”

“The fact that the order of matches in the second round is different from the first half of the season is also quite disorienting,” he notes, “from 5 January to 13 February Inter will face off against Atalanta, Milan and Napoli, as well as Lazio.”
