Yesterday evening against Cagliari, young Inter wing-back Mattia Zanotti made his first-team debut after impressing with the Primavera side, but he is far from the only youth player ready to make their first appearance for the senior side.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who highlight four of the Primavera players who look to be on the cusp of appearances for the first team.
Fabio Cortinovis is a young centre-back who has been starring for the Primavera team, but he has also recently been called up by head coach Simone Inzaghi.
The 19-year-old was on the bench against Spezia and Roma, as the Nerazzurri had an injury crisis in defense with the likes of Stefan de Vrij and Andrea Ranocchia were out, though the teenager did not see time on the pitch.
Meanwhile, Franco Carboni is a young midfielder and full-back who can play in a number of wide roles and could be perfectly suited to appearing as a wing-back in Inzaghi’s preferred tactical system.
19-year-old Mattia Sangalli has impressed under Primavera boss Christian Chivu as a deep-lying midfielder in the vein of Marcelo Brozovic.
His performances earned him a call-up to the senior team for matches against Atalanta and Fiorentina, though he did not come off the bench in those matches.
Lastly, 18-year-old midfielder Cesare Casadei is a powerful and technical midfielder whose characteristics have earned him comparisons to Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Atalanta’s Mario Pasalic, and it looks to be only a matter of time before he makes his first team debut.
