Legendary former Juventus midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi believes that Inter have the squad strength needed to hold off the other form team in Serie A, Atalanta.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, the 45-year-old emphasized that the Nerazzurri look to be the more robust of the two sides compared to La Dei.

Inter have done well to catch up at the top of the Serie A table, reaching the summit for the first time this weekend after having been seven points behind AC Milan and Napoli only a few weeks ago.

The Partenopei and the Rossoneri both looked to have slipped up in form to let Inter in, but the Nerazzurri are not the only team to have capitalized.

Atalanta have also put some early wobbles behind them to win all their games since the return from the international break to take advantage of the suddenly very open Scudetto race and put themselves in the title picture.

However, Tacchinardi doesn’t believe that La Dei quite have what it takes to keep up with Inter, stating that “In my opinion Inzaghi’s team is stronger in both midfield and attack.”

“In midfield Atalanta have have Freuler and De Roon, whereas Inter have about two hundred different players. If there is a weak point, it is their goalkeeper,” he elaborated.

Journalist Riccardo Trevisani added that “In defense Bastoni, Skriniar, and De Vrij are in no way comparable to Djimsiti, Toloi, and Demiral: the former are much stronger.”

He went on that “In midfield Brozovic, Calhanoglu, and Barella are better than De Roon, Freuler, and Koopmeiners.”
