Former AC Milan and Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino believes that Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi has brought the Nerazzurri to a high level.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Sport Piacenza, the 39-year-old praised the job done by the current coach at Inter and suggested that he has given the team something their rivals lack.

The Nerazzurri are now truly in the driver’s seat in the Scudetto race for the first time this campaign after beating Cagliari on Sunday to go ahead of city rivals AC Milan in the table.,

Inzaghi has looked to have taken up the mantle of his predecessor Antonio Conte, and is ready to lead the Nerazzurri to the Scudetto as the former coach had done.

Gilardino believes that Inter have qualities that their rivals at the top end of the Serie A table do not, and he credits Inzaghi for guiding them to this point.

“Simone Inzaghi has done well,” he stated, “he has inherited the legacy of Conte’s ideas while putring his own stamp on it, and today Inter have something more than the other teams.”

“However, the season is long so it is too early to make a definitive prediction,” he added.
