Former Fiorentina, AC Milan, and Sampdoria and current Dana Demirspor head coach Vincenzo Montella believes that Inter are leading the way in an excellent Serie A campaign.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, the Italian tactician gave the view that this season’s edition of the Italian top flight is exciting and unpredictable but that the Nerazzurri are one of the top sides.

The top end of the Serie A table has looked competitive for much of the season, with the likes of Napoli and AC Milan getting off to blistering starts while teams like Roma and Fiorentina have shown themselves capable of keeping up just behind them.

The Nerazzurri were not initially able to assert themselves and become clear favourites to defend their Scudetto crown, whilst Juventus have not bounced back from last campaign’s fourth place finish to look like the top side in the league as many expected.

However, in recent weeks things have tightened up further, with Inter catching up and now leading the table, although things look far from straightforward for all the teams involved.

On whether he sees Inter as one of the teams to beat Montella state “Absolutely. This season the league is very exciting at the top.”

“I would not count out Atalanta as well as Napoli, who I really like despite their difficulties in recent matches,” he added.

“Even this Milan with many young players has ample room for growth,” he added. “I see the fight for the title being uncertain until the end.”
