Former Inter defender Daniele Adani is surprised that Inter are in the form that they’re in before the calendar year has even ended.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, as reported by FCInterNews, the former defender expressed surprise that the Nerazzurri have looked to be such a polished version of themselves under Simone Inzaghi so early on in the coach’s reign.

Inter endured a summer of upheaval and were expected by many to be in for a season of transition and growing pains, integrating new coach Inzaghi and several new signings.

Instead, the former Lazio coach looks to have worked quickly with both the new players and the players already there to impose his ideas and rectify the issues that had appeared in the early phase of the campaign.

Adani is impressed with how rapidly the coach has worked to get the team to where they are deservedly top of the table and on track to defend their Scudetto crown.

“Inzaghi’s influence can be seen on the base built by Conte,” he explained. “Now there is self-belief., the team is so confident that they can pick their spots on how they want to finish opponents off.”

“A month ago they were seven points behind top spot, ten points temporarily after Zielinski’s goal, yesterday they went a point clear at the top.”

He concluded that “They deserve to be top more than ever. I did not expect, I must emphasize, that they would reach the top with playing this way so quickly. Congratulations.”
