Former Torino and Italy hea coach Gian Piero Ventura believes that AC Milan are still the favourites to win the Scudetto this season.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, the Italian tactician named the Rossoneri as the team likeliest to go on and win Serie A due to their lack of European commitments.
The Nerazzurri overtook their city rivals at the top of the table for the first time this season over the weekend when they took advantage of the Rossoneri’s dropped points against Udinese by getting three points from their clash with Cagliari.
However, the Rossoneri are far from out of contention for the Scudetto in spite of their moment of stuttering form, and Ventura believes that they have a key advantage in the fact that they are able to completely focus on the league.
This had been the case for Inter last season when they dropped entirely out of Europe with their last place finish in their Champions League group and went on to win the Scudetto, and Ventura thinks that Milan can do likewise.
“For me, the team that has the best chance of winning the title is not Inter, but the one that will not play in Europe: Milan,” he stated.
