Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is set to face a player who he recently called “one of the best in the world” in the Champions League, in the form of Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.

Speaking to Emirati broadcaster, the Nerazzurri coach had recently praised the Egyptian forward as one of the top players in football, and now he will have to deal with the 29-year-old in person in the round of sixteen.

Inter will have felt that they got one of the toughest possible opponents when they drew Liverpool in the Champions League round of sixteen draw on Monday.

The Reds are one of the form sides in England and on the continent, having taken eighteen points from eighteen in a group containing Atletico Madrid, Porto, and AC Milan.

One of the key factors to Liverpool’s blistering form this season has been the level at which Salah has been playing, and Inzaghi had already known well how difficult the former Fiorentina and Roma man will be for his team to stop.

“For me, Salah is one of the best players in the world,” the coach said. “I have seen him up close, when I was starting out as Lazio manager, and he was a Roma player.”

He went on that “Salah is a wonderful player and my advice to him is to follow your heart before choosing your next step.”

The coach had also spoken about the departure of Achraf Hakimi in the summer, stating that “I am without Hakimi, but I knew before coming to Inter that he would sign with Paris Saint-Germain.”

“I wish him success because he is a player with a great attitude in addition to his excellent technical level,” he went on.

Inzaghi went on that “In the summer transfer window we strengthened the ranks of our team with some great players to compensate for the departures of Achraf and Romelu Lukaku, in addition to the loss of Christian Eriksen.”
