Former AC Milan manager Arrigo Sacchi has suggested that Inter are succeeding partly due to the freshness that Simone Inzaghi has brought to the squad, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Arrigo Sacchi explained that Inter have assimilated the good work that former coach Antonio Conte did with the side and now the touch of Simone Inzaghi is starting to shine through.

“They have assimilated Conte’s work and now take advantage of the freshness of Inzaghi.”

As for the title race in Serie A as a whole, Arrigo Sacchi has great admiration for the way that Atalanta have entered the competition in recent weeks and risen to third in the standings.

“Two great merits must be recognized at Atalanta. First of all, it is a team that has given courage and ideas to all the other Italians, even at European level.

“To this we must add that it has become an example also for the great teams because they play good football whilst managing to keep the accounts in order.”

Arrigo Sacchi’s former side AC Milan are in a tough patch of form largely down to many injuries, but he feels that Stefano Pioli should be able to navigate it.

“Milan is experiencing a moment of confusion after the Champions League blow, but if Pioli knows how to touch the right keys, he will be able to bring his team back into the form that has made them grow enormously in recent years.”

He finally added that whilst Napoli are a good team, Inter remains the favourites.

“Napoli have good values, but Inter today remains favourites.”
