Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has sent his best wishes to Christian Eriksen who terminated his contract with the club today, according to a report in the broadcast media tonight.

Speaking ahead of the clash with Salernitana on Friday night to DAZN, via FCInter1908, the Turkish midfielder explained that he is sorry for Christian Eriksen’s situation and said he will play with him in mind.

“I’m sorry for him, a great person and a great player. Inter is obviously sad about what has happened to him. I replaced him here in the Nerazzurri. I wish him the best and I will play for him too.”

Christian Eriksen had his contract terminated by Inter by mutual consent on Friday as it has become clear that medical regulations mean he cannot play in Italy any longer.

He has a defibrillator fitted after suffering a cardiac arrest at EURO 2020 in the summer whilst playing for Denmark.

Inter are in fantastic form having won five matches in a row before the Salernitana match. Hakan Clahanoglu stressed how the team are working well together and are in a good mental state right now.

“We feel strong, we are working well with the coach and with his staff. It shows on the pitch, where we are mentally free. The results come by themselves.”

Hakan Calhanoglu was purchased as a direct replacement for Christian Eriksen in the summer.
