Inter’s sporting CEO Beppe Marotta has threatened legal action against Fiorentina and their General Manager Joe Barone, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by the print edition of Corriere della Sera today, via FCInternews, Beppe Marotta and Joe Barone got into a heated argument whilst at the Lega Assembly attended by executives from Serie A clubs.

The argument was in relation to Inter postponing the payment of salaries to players whilst the club was in the height of its financial issues in the summer.

Joe Barone suggested that Inter used the money they saved from not paying salaries on time to make transfers, saying: “Here there are clubs that do not respect deadlines and with the money saved they make the transfer.”

Beppe Marotta angrily responded by claiming this was also and that he is ready to sue Joe Barone and Fiorentina for defamation.

“Enough defamation of Inter. We are in order. A complaint to the federal prosecutor is already ready”, Beppe Marotta said.

Beppe Marotta has been widely praised for his work for Inter over the past year as he was faced with a financial disaster that led to the departures of Antonio Conte, Romelu Lukaku, and Achraf Hakimi from the team.
