Inter defender Denzel Dumfries has highlighted how Inter can still improve despite beating Salernitana 5-0 in Salerno on Friday night, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking after the match to the club’s official TV channel, Inter TV, via FCInternews, Denzel Dumfries said that Inter can still improve by keeping control of the ball in defence better.

“Sometimes we lose a little control of the ball in defence, but it’s part of a team attitude that works well anyway. You can always grow.”

Inter were very impressive in the 5-0 victory but were not made to work particularly hard for the three points by the team sitting at the bottom of the Serie A table.

Despite having pointed out where an improvement can be made, Denzel Dumfries was still keen to emphasise the good parts of the Nerazzurri performance.

“I think we showed good things as a team, we played very well both with and without the ball, it was a fantastic match both on a personal level and as a team.

“Today it could have gone wrong if we had underestimated the opponent, instead we were focused, we played as usual and the rest came by itself. We can count on highly experienced players who have dragged the others.”

The Dutch wing back had a slow start to his Inter career having joined in the summer from PSV Eindhoven. He has impressed in recent weeks though and scored another goal for the team against Salernitana on Friday.
