Legendary former Inter, Real Madrid, and Roma forward Antonio Cassano believes that Inter have around a 20% chance of getting out of their Champions League round of sixteen tie against Liverpool.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, as reported by FCInterNews, the 39-year-old suggested that the Premier League side are big favourites though he still gave the Nerazzurri a chance.

Inter have been in great form in Serie A, but they will be well aware that taking on the side currently second place in the Premier League table will be a completely different task than anything they’ve faced so far this season.

The Nerazzurri will have to change their approach to suit an opponent who have proved themselves capable of dominating almost all comers this season.

This does not mean that Inter do not have any reason for optimism given the quality that they have shown this season, but in Cassano’s view the tie will be a major uphill battle for them.

The former striker began by praising the recent performances by Inter, stating that “Inzaghi has given more freedom to the team. Sanchez is a top player, as is Dzeko.”

“He has a particular style of play, he can play in pockets of space and he can score,” he went on of Sanchez. “When he plays you have to expect great quality.”

And on the Champions League tie between Inter and Liverpool he stated that “My heart wants to say that Inter can do it, but on paper they have a 15-20% chance.”

“Liverpool are in a league of their own,” he went on. “They have a thousand ways to hurt teams and always play at a hundred miles per hour.”

“They defend bravely, press high up the pitch and immediately recover the ball,” he added of the Premier League side.

He stated that “I can’t find fault with this team. Compared to last season they have one more alternative, Diogo Jota, who is taking away Firmino’s place in the centre of the attack. I say 20% Inter and 80% Liverpool for the next round.”
