Former Inter head coach Andrea Stramaccioni believes that current Nerazzurri boss Simone Inzaghi is exactly the right man for the job.

Speaking to Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the former coach suggested that Inzaghi has been perfect to take up the work of Antonio Conte and named Inter as Serie A title favourites.

Inzaghi had already established a strong reputation for himself in Italian football with the job he did across five seasons in charge of Lazio.

However, taking over from Conte was always going to be a different sort of challenge, with the aim being to continue on in the direction that had seen the departed coach guide the team to a first Scudetto in eleven years.

Stramaccioni believes that the former Biancocelesti coach has been more than up to the task, however, and that the team are on track to successfully defend their Scudetto crown.

He began by reflecting on his own time in charge at the Nerazzurri, stating that “For me it was something that made me very happy, that I shared with the Interisti to whom I am linked, from Zanetti to Ausilio, and on to Ranocchia and Moratti.”

He added that “For those like me who have lived through and feel Interismo deeply inside, last season’s Scudetto has tremendous value.”

On Inter’s chances of repeating the title this season he stated that “For me they are the favourites. They hired the best possible coach to pick up from Conte’s work and enhance a squad built to play this system.”
