Inter defender Danilo D’Ambrosio has highlighted the importance of Marcelo Brozovic to the Nerazzurri team, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking to DAZN after the 5-0 victory over Salernitana on Friday night, via FCInter1908, Danilo D’Ambrosio explained that Marcelo Brozovic has gotten even more important for Inter over the years he has spent at the club.

“Brozovic has always been important for Inter, but in recent years even more, given that he has had impressive growth.”

Danilo D’Ambrosio also had praise for fellow full back Denzel Dumfries who has started to find some form at Inter after a difficult start to his time at the club. He scored the second goal of the match in Friday night in Salerno.

“I try to give advice to the youngest, to those who arrive in Italy in a difficult league like ours. But then it is their merit if they follow those who give them advice. He has pedalled with his head down and is getting the compliments he deserves.”

Speaking about the role of the full backs in Simone Inzaghi’s team, Danilo D’Ambrosio said that whilst they have freedom they must strike a balance.

“Yes, but always with balance. We are always short. We have more freedom to play, but always with principles.”

Inter were comfortable winners but the defender admitted that they were annoyed at only being 2-0 up at half time.

“It seemed like an easy game given the situation, but if you don’t prove your worth on the pitch you risk bad results. We told each other before taking the field.

“We got angry for not having closed it in the first half, and this is the difference compared to last year. Thus, we also dominated in the second half. When you have to reconfirm it is increasingly difficult, there is a lot of work behind it.”
