Inter are planning to hold talks towards extending the contract of Ivan Perisic in February, but there is still significant distance between the parties on an agreement.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Nerazzurri are not ready to offer close to what the 32-year-old is seeking on a potential new deal.

Perisic’s current contract is set to expire at the end of June 2022, but the Croat’s form this season has meant that the club would like to keep him on beyond this date.

The club are prepared to offer Perisic a new two-year deal worth a net of €3.5 million per season, down from the €5 million net that he currently earns, while the player is seeking a six-year contract worth €6 million net per season.

The parties will put the talks on hold for the time being, but will meet again in February, aware that there remains significant distance between them to reconcile if an agreement on a renewal is to be found.
