Former Inter defender Beppe Bergomi has said that this current Inter side is different to the one that won the Scudetto last season under Antonio Conte, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking on Sky Sport after the 5-0 victory over Salernitana on Friday night, via FCInter1908, Beppe Bergomi explained that Simone Inzaghi’s Inter had a difficult start with conceding goals but now it is clear that the team has more technical qualities than before.

“This year it is a different Inter: at the beginning, they conceded several goals despite playing well, but after Empoli it was clear that they had to work on that aspect. From there they are now more solid but remain beautiful. They have more courage and technical qualities.”

Beppe Bergomi also stressed the importance of taking matches such as the ones against Salernitana and Torino seriously.

“Inter have no direct matches but Torino is not easy: you should not underestimate anything, all matches are to be taken seriously and with commitment.”

Beppe Bergomi also discussed Christian Eriksen who had his contract with the club terminated by mutual effect due to the issues surrounding his heart.

“Under Conte, he understood that he had to pull out something more: he was even better in the containment phase, he never jumped.

“Then we know the technical qualities ahead, but he lacked the ability to be effective off the ball. Then he understood and was decisive for the Scudetto.”
