Legendary former AC Milan right-back Cafu feels that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has proved himself to be an excellent manager since taking over at the Nerazzurri in the summer.

Speaking to Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, the 51-year-old gave his thoughts on the current Nerazzurri boss’s work and on how he has observed the coach’s career.

Inzaghi had already established a very strong reputation for himself as a coach with his work at Lazio, where he had successfully made the jump from playing to a career behind the touchline.

The 45-year-old has gone even further since making the switch to Inter over the summer, quickly establishing his ideas at a team that had come off the back of a Scudetto win and even improving many aspects of the play despite upheaval in the squad over the summer.

Cafu is a fan of what Inzaghi has done and the Brazilian considers him a top coach.

“I came up against Inzaghi in a number of Rome derbies when we were still playing,” he recalled, ” and he has become a top, intelligent coach, he studies his opponents a lot.”

He went on that “He started his career and nobody believed in him, but he did his job very well, gradually, with Lazio, growing year upon year.”

“Now he can win with Inter,” he added, “to whom he has given a great style of play. Much of why they deserve to be top of the table is because of him, because he believes in what he does and leaves nothing to chance.”
