Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana is still a certainty to join Inter next summer on a free transfer in spite of recent reports linking him with a possible move to Barcelona.

This according to Italian news outlet L’Interista, who report that nothing has changed with the 25-year-old’s situation and that the Nerazzurri have all but secured his signature for next summer.

Onana has been reported as the Nerazzurri’s priority target to replace Samir Handanovic in the long term, and the club have reportedly been in advanced talks with him for some time.

With the Cameroonian having publicly stated that he has no plans to renew with Ajax, the Nerazzurri will be able to bring him in for free when his current contract expires at the end of June 2022.

Onana has recently spoken about his links with former club Barcelona in interviews with the Spanish press, but as L’Interista point out, this has in no way indicated that he plans to join the Catalan giants.

Rather, the informal agreement is still in place to join Inter next summer, which the club will make official as soon as they are able to.
