Inter have put contract extension talks with wing-back Ivan Perisic on stand-by until next year.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the club are aware that work is still necessary to find an agreement with the 32-year-old and know that they will have to be patient.

Perisic’s form this season has meant that the Nerazzurri are increasingly hoping to find an agreement with the Croat on a new deal.

The wing-back’s current contract is set to run out at the end of June 2022, but he has shown few signs of stopping this campaign.

The player is hoping for a wage raise from the net €5 million that he currently earns, and is also seeking a three-year deal.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri are still only willing to renew the 32-year-old on reduced wages, with €4 million the highest they are willing to go, and are only ready to offer a two-year extension taking him to 2024.

The club are planning to go further on talks next year, but they are not rushing the process at the moment and will wait to seriously resume the talks.
