On-loan Inter striker was sent off for an altercation during the second half of his club Basel’s 2-2 draw with Grasshoppers yesterday.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the 19-year-old received a straight red card after coming on as a substitute, having been involved in a fight with two Grasshoppers players.

Esposito had already had a recent controversial incident at the Swiss club when he refused to come off the bench as a substitute during a Europa Conference League group stage match against Qarabag.

The 19-year-old was back in the team against Grasshoppers yesterday, however, although his night did not end well.

Esposito replaced Valentin Stocker in the 63rd minute, but in the 89th minute of the match he was involved in an altercation with Grasshopers players Petar Pusic and Shkelqim Demhasaj, for which the referee sent him off.

Basel managed to score a stoppage time equalizer without Esposito on the pitch to make the score 2-2, but Esposito’s evening could not have ended much worse.
